Kelsley Grant



Trombonist Kelsley Grant has been twice nominated for trombonist of the year by the National Jazz Awards. He co-leads the Jefferson Grant Quintet with saxophonist Kelly Jefferson. This group won an Opus Award for their first recording and was nominated Acoustic Ensemble of the Year at the National Jazz Awards.

As the trombonist for Maynard Fergusonʼs Big Bop Noveau, Kelsley spent time touring the United States, Germany, Switzerland and England. He has also performed with Maria Schneider, Michel LeGrand, Nicholas Payton, Sophie Milman, Ranee Lee, Karen Young and Jackie Richardson. He toured with Forever Swing, and took part in the Toronto production of Ainʼt Misbehavinʼ. He has played on several movie soundtracks including Cirque de Soleil-Alegria and Les Triplettes De Belleville which was nominated for two Academy Awards.

Kelsley holds a Bachelor of Music from McGill University and Masters of Music from the Manhattan School of Music. His teachers included Steve Turre and Richard DeRosa.
